BP Horizon Disaster Relief Resources
The RESTORE Act
The RESTORE Act would send 80% of Clean Water Act penalties from the BP oil spill to impacted areas. Click here to see how those funds would reach the Gulf Coast. Or click here for a printable version of the chart.

Track the Oil Leak
The Oil Spill Crisis Map below uses first-hand reports from the Gulf Coast that are submitted via text, email or Twitter. Each dot on the map below links to an incident report with personal testimony of oil sightings, oil covered wildlife or real-time personal impacts. All of these were submitted by people living and working along the coast or in the Gulf of Mexico.
The map, courtesy of
Louisiana Bucket Brigade
, creates space for community assessment and immediate data on the impact of the spill, facilitating transparency, accountability and effectiveness in the oil spill response and clean up.

Other Volunteer Opportunities:
Please remember to coordinate with your local response agencies, as they will offer volunteer training. While the environmental damage can be devastating, oil is a hazardous material, and hazard mitigation training is typically required of all potential volunteers.
You request volunteer information through BP at 866-448-5816. Volunteers may also sign up at http://www.oilspillvolunteers.com/.
Additional Information:
Document everything. Keep documents of everything spent and everything lost; keep mileage records; keep all receipts for fuel; take inventories of assets. Photo logs can also be very helpful. If possible, save digital copies of documents that can be easily transported.
